Whew... I'm feeling that good kind of tired!
March was an absolute whirlwind, and April has kicked off with just as much excitement. I'm ditching the humble act and embracing the joy of leadership—because, let's face it, it's been nothing short of amazing.
I took on the ambitious challenge of posting on TikTok every day for Women’s History Month, and let me tell you, it was a journey. It wasn't about striving for perfection but about using my voice, even when it felt shaky. Along the way, I learned valuable lessons: stop chasing perfection, find your voice even in uncertainty, build your tribe of supporters, and trust that your message will resonate when the time is right.
The highlight of the month? Collaborating with my son, Julian Bass. Working together on TikTok was not only professionally fulfilling but also a precious bonding experience. And hey, if you need a TikTok consultant, Julian's your guy—check him out at macrobassproductions.com.
As we dive into April, we celebrated a milestone: my fabulous mother, Mama K (Karen Washington), turned 70! We threw her a "Farm" raising Event near her farm in Chester, NY, and the turnout was beyond incredible. Over 150 people came from all corners to shower her with love. She's the epitome of leadership—compassionate, courageous, and endlessly devoted to doing right by others. And if you want to donate to her farm, click this link and show her some love: https://www.riseandrootfarm.com/donate
But the celebrations don't stop there. My youngest son, Justice, is gearing up to graduate in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, followed by his Master's in 2025. Talk about a proud momma moment! After COVID-19 forced him to have a virtual high school graduation in 2020, we're ready to celebrate in person with all the pomp and circumstance he deserves.
I'm overflowing with gratitude for the love and life I've been blessed with. And I'm eagerly embracing the lessons that come with leading, parenting, being a wife, and being a daughter. Here are a few nuggets of wisdom I've picked up along the way:
Embrace Imperfection: Stop striving for perfection and embrace the beauty of imperfection. It's in our flaws that our authenticity shines brightest.
Speak Up, Even When Your Voice Shakes: Don't let fear hold you back. Speak your truth, even if your voice trembles. Your words have power.
Build Your Tribe: Surround yourself with people who lift you up and support you unconditionally. Together, you can achieve greatness.
Trust Timing: Trust that things will unfold in their own time. Your message will reach the right people when they're ready to receive it.
Celebrate Milestones: Take the time to celebrate the milestones, big and small. Life is too short not to revel in the moments of joy and achievement.
Here's to soaking up every bit of wisdom that life throws our way.
